Movie Review: Moana (2016)

The movie Moana came out in November of 2016. Since then it has become a sensation around the world. The film is the first Disney film with a female character who saves herself.

The film is about a teenager named, Moana. She goes on a quest to save her people and the island they live on. During the voyage, Moana meets demi-god, Maui. Maui guides her on the mission and teaches her to be a master way-finder.  Both of them, travel together on an action-packed journey. The journey involved encountering many trials. Moana fulfills the quest of her ancestors and ends up finding her own identity in the end.

My view of this film is a positive one. The film kept my attention throughout the whole film. The plot of the film is a well-developed one and was enjoyable. The way it displayed on the screen brings certain types of feelings to the movie. It has a little bit of comedy, a little bit of action, and a little bit of sadness throughout the film. The voices of the characters did a great job portraying them.

The voice of Moana is, Auli'i Cravalho, she is a newcomer to the world of Hollywood. Her acting was very mature for her age. Her singing voice was amazing in the film. The actor who was the voice of Maui is, Dwayne Johnson aka "the Rock." He portrayed this character very well and his singing done with excellence. Other actors in this film are Jemaine Clements, Nicole Scherzinger, and even more.

The music in the film is very good. I enjoyed every song in this film. The composers of the soundtrack Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Macina, and Opetaia Foa'i. The theme of the music is fantastic. My favorite song on the soundtrack is "How Far I'll Go." This song displays the main message of this film. The message the film wants to leave its audience is to never give up on your passion. It's theme is to not be afraid of finding yourself and being who you're meant to be.
